FC Defeats South Vermillion to complete the sweep and extend their winning streak to 4. The Mustangs got out to a 5-run lead in the second inning and held on for a 9-8 victory over South Vermillion. Fountain Central Softball flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring seven runs on four hits to take the lead, 7-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a single by Braelynn Kiger on the sixth pitch of the at-bat that drove in two. Kiger earned the win for FC. The starter allowed 10 hits and eight runs (four earned) over seven innings, striking out seven and walking three. Wallace took the loss for South Vermillion. The pitcher went six innings, allowing nine runs (three earned) on seven hits, striking out nine and walking five. Lillian Bennett led Fountain Central Varsity Mustangs with two hits in two at bats. Kyra Kiger, Patience Bixler, and Kiger each drove in two runs for FC. Bennett paced Fountain Central Varsity Mustangs with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating five walks for the game. Fountain Central ran wild on the base paths, piling up five stolen bases for the game. Next up for Fountain Central is a game against West Lafayette on Wednesday.
